LG begins to market 6G wireless technology

As 5G technology gradually spreads around the world, the tech giants are already gearing up for the advent of 6G wireless technology. LG was the first in the world to test this technology outside of a laboratory and to transmit 6G terahertz wireless communication signals over a distance of 100 meters.

While the world is still in the transition to using 5G networks, some tech companies, such as Samsung or LG, are testing 6G transmission using terahertz (THz) waves.

Although Samsung already tested it last year, South Korean company LG is the first time it has tested outdoors in front of it for the first time this year.

LG performed a test at a distance of 100 meters versus 15 meters Used in Made by Samsung lab tests. Another novelty, the test was done outdoors. The experiment was carried out in collaboration with the German company Franhofer-Kesselsoft, specializing in research in applied sciences.

To make this experiment a success, LG set up a dedicated 6G research center and worked with Franhofer-Kesselsoft to develop a power amplifier.

“The success of this experiment proves that we are closer than ever to the successful implementation of the Terahertz radio communications spectrum into the next 6G era,” said IP Park, president and CDO of LG Electronics.

In theory, the new 6G technology should be 100 times faster than 5G.

When will 6G launch?

In 2020, the South Korean manufacturer Samsung announced that 6G will be launched Used at a limited number of sites from 2028 and by 2030. According to Samsung, humans and machines will be the main beneficiaries of this technology. Digital copy.

Rival LG has been pushing for almost the same time, promising that the new 6G technology will become a global standard by 2025. However, the company says it will only be commercialized between 2025 and 2029.
